Utown’s Children’s Ministry
Passion and Purpose

We believe that families matter to God and that the home is central in the discipleship of children.  Your family is on a journey with Jesus and we want to join you on that grand adventure!  We look forward to hearing how God is at work in your home and how our church can support your family as you walk with Him.

OUR PASSION
Impressing the Word of God on the hearts of children!

OUR PURPOSE
We will partner with parents to impress the Word of God on the hearts of children so that they develop an all-consuming love for God, a life-transforming faith in Jesus, a God-honoring respect for authority, a world-changing love for others, and a fruit-bearing life in the Spirit.

Teaching God’s Word to children gives kids a rock-solid foundation for life. Raising children to love God, follow Jesus, obey their parents, love their neighbor and rely on the Spirit is central to discipling kids and raising up the next generation to become a holy people of the holy God, glorifying Him by imaging and proclaiming Jesus.

God’s Word: A Rock-Solid Foundation for Life
I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice.  He is like a man building a house, who dug deep down and laid the foundation on rock.  Luke 6:47-48

Impressed with Truth: A Parent-Child, Heart-to-Heart Transfer
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Deut. 6:5-7a

Partnership With Parents: Prioritizing What Happens at Home
Talk about [these commandments] when you sit at home, when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:7b-8

An All-consuming Love for God:  The Greatest Command from our Great God
Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’ . . .” Matthew 22:37-39

A Life-Transforming Faith in Jesus:  An Amazing Journey with a Trusted Leader
Let us rid ourselves of all that weighs us down, of the sinful habit that clings so closely, and run, with all endurance, the race for which we are entered, our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom faith depends from start to finish. Hebrews 12:1-2 (NEB)

A God-honoring Respect for Authority: Glorifying God by Obeying Others
Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother–which is the first commandment with a promise . . . Ephesians 6:1-2

A World-Changing Love for Others:  Reaching the World by Sharing Christ’s Love
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples . . . John 13:34-35a

A Fruit-bearing Life in the Spirit:  Abundant Living through the Life-Giving Spirit
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Galatians 5:22, 25

OUR PRAYER
Father, may our children be transformed by Your grace and conformed to the image of Your Son as they are faithfully discipled by Your people. Amen.
